WNBL 2010-2011 – Round 4 – Canberra Vs Adelaide

Adelaide had the week off last week after picking up their first win in Round 2, and they will be looking to extend on that result with a big outing against Canberra. It’s also their first road trip – not the easiest of trips first up, as there are few tougher than Canberra at the Institute.

Canberra will see the light at the end of the tunnel this week – their fourth straight double-header – before a couple of home games and a week off in the next three weeks.
They’ve been resilient to this point, but will they have the legs? You’d think that this week would be the perfect time for the Lightning to knock them over, as they are still without Batkovic, and potentially fatiguing.

But they have impressed, and according to coach Graf, they’ve even impressed themselves. Every player has stood up in the absence of others. Tolo, Bibby and Carly Wilson have all lifted in Batkovic’s absence, as has Michelle Cosier and Nicole Romeo.
But with Mia Newley hitting some fine form, along with Tegan Cunningham and Emma Langford also putting up big numbers, the Lightning can certainly strike this week.
